What this page is for
If you operate a Ghost publication, you've probably noticed how few AI tools actually integrate with Ghost. Most "AI blog writer" tools target WordPress and treat Ghost as an afterthought. AutoPublish treats Ghost as a first-class platform: full Admin API integration, featured-image upload to Ghost's media store, meta and OG fields populated, and proper handling of Ghost's authors, tags, and visibility settings.
Why AutoPublish for Ghost
Ghost has a clean, well-documented Admin API and a publishing model that maps cleanly to AutoPublish's pipeline. Once you generate an Admin API key in Ghost (Settings → Integrations → Custom Integrations), AutoPublish authenticates with that key and publishes posts via the official Admin API — including featured images, excerpts, meta titles, meta descriptions, canonical URLs, and tag/author assignment. Schema markup is injected via Ghost's code injection field per-post on publish.
Ghost Admin API integration
AutoPublish authenticates with your Ghost Admin API key and publishes via the official API. No custom integration, no fragile webhook setup.
Featured image to Ghost media store
Generated featured images upload directly to Ghost's media store and attach to the post with the correct positioning.
Meta title, description, OG fields populated
Every post publishes with meta title, meta description, OG title, OG description, Twitter title, and Twitter description populated — all writable via the Admin API.
Tag and author assignment
Articles publish with appropriate tags assigned and the author field set to your chosen Ghost user. Supports primary tag for theme-specific display logic.
14-signal quality gate
Same gate as our WordPress integration. Every article scored 0–100 before publish; sub-threshold drafts held in review queue.
Internal linking from sitemap
AutoPublish fetches your Ghost site's sitemap on publish and injects contextual internal links from new articles to relevant existing posts.

Who runs AutoPublish on Ghost
Solo Ghost publication owner
Queue 2–4 SEO articles per week against a topic cluster. Review queue mode lets you skim each draft before publish. Featured images and meta fields are taken care of automatically.
Ghost-based newsletter / blog hybrid
Use AutoPublish for evergreen SEO content (buying guides, how-tos) alongside your own first-person newsletter posts. Tag-based routing keeps the AI-generated and human-written content visually separate in your theme.
Multi-site Ghost operator
Connect each Ghost site separately with its own Admin API key. Per-site brand voice and primary-tag defaults keep content consistent on each site.
Who this is not for
Honest disqualifiers — skip AutoPublish for Ghost if any of these match:
- Ghost publications focused on first-person essays or signature long-form — automation accelerates evergreen volume, not voice.
- Members-only Ghost newsletters — AutoPublish writes public-blog SEO content, not subscriber-only emails.
- Sites without an SEO strategy — automation amplifies an existing plan; it doesn't replace having one.
Frequently asked questions
Does AutoPublish work with self-hosted Ghost and Ghost Pro?
Yes — both. The integration uses the Admin API which is available on all Ghost installations. You generate an Admin API key in your Ghost admin under Settings → Integrations.
Will AutoPublish overwrite my existing Ghost posts?
No. AutoPublish only creates new posts. Existing posts are untouched. The Admin API connection has write scope only for new content, not destructive operations.
Can I assign a specific Ghost author to AI-published posts?
Yes. Pick the default author per-site in AutoPublish settings; override per-article from the queue if needed. The author must already exist in your Ghost site.
Does AutoPublish populate Ghost's meta title and meta description fields?
Yes. Both fields are writable via the Admin API and AutoPublish populates them with SEO-optimized values that respect Ghost's character limits.
Can I revoke AutoPublish's access without losing my published posts?
Yes. Delete the custom integration in Ghost admin → AutoPublish loses publish access immediately. Posts already published stay on your Ghost site as native posts.
Does this work with my Ghost theme?
Yes — AutoPublish creates standard Ghost posts via the Admin API. Any Ghost theme that renders posts (which is all of them) renders AutoPublish-published content correctly.
